Seeking to Be Guided

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” -Matthew 6:33 (NIV)

There are times in our lives when uncertainty seems to plague our soul. Like a foreboding cloud it hangs over us as we fret about our future Google+Photoplans, our careers, and our relationships. We seek for guidance in every possible source only to find that their answers are unsatisfactory, sometimes placing even more doubts and fears into our already troubled minds. How we wish we had a map that would tell us exactly where to go and what to do at each leg of this journey we call life. But despite the realities and worries that characterize life here on Earth, we have someone who is willing to lead us through those times where we feel lost, confused and afraid.

When we seek the face of Christ and to dwell in His presence, He will be our perfect Guide. His plans for us are never to harm us, but to give us hope and a radiant future; with Him providing for our every need according to His perfect will and flawless timing. This is what He promises to us. However, He gives us the choice of claiming this promise for ourselves. When we try to sail the seas of life using the fallibility of human understanding and wisdom as our compass, we set ourselves on the path of misery and hopelessness. But when we seek the Kingdom of God, by allowing Christ within our hearts to be the sole proof of our citizenship in His Kingdom, and seek to allow Him to make His righteousness manifest in us, He will lead us on the path that He has intended for us to follow. Sometimes this path may seem treacherous and even undesirable. However, as long as we walk with Him and keep in step with His Spirit residing within us, He will slowly reveal, piece by piece His perfect will, His faithful provision and His unfailing love.
