“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. -Psalm 147:3 (NIV)
When we are injured, our instinctive response is to cry out in pain. But though this response is to inform us that we are in pain, it also serves a distress call. Imagine if we were walking through a remote area and suddenly found ourselves on the ground in pain. Yet we were unable to cry out, thereby preventing anyone within audible range to take note of our predicament and come to our aid. That is why God has given us not only the blessing of pain to tell us that something is wrong, but the ability to cry out when we are wounded. When help finally comes, what a relief it is as people concerned about our welfare tend to us seeking to bring restoration and healing!
Life comes with both its joys and sorrows. When those moments of agony strike, where do we turn to when we feel shattered and broken? Often when we cry out for help in our despair, it seems that no one is listening, and those which do seem to never truly understand our misery. Tired of the indifference we face and half-hearted remedies we get, we wonder if there is anyone out there who can help us. But the wonderful truth is that there is! God knows our suffering and He knows the struggles and hardships we endure. It grieves Him to see us be slaves to such conditions. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ. He came to restore humanity and free us from our afflictions. When we have allowed Christ’s Spirit to dwell within us, He will bring life and healing to our souls. Through Him we will be able to partake in the hope of knowing that in Christ we have victory for He is faithful and greater than our circumstances. Nothing will be able to stop His perfect will for our lives and in His promises we will be able to find a lasting joy and peace that will sustain us despite all that we may undergo.
